WesterosCraft is an artistic building server, recreating Westeros block by block in Minecraft. Everything you see on the map was made by volunteers, and the quality comes from a shared set of styles that keep the world feeling seamless as you travel across it. This page is your starting point for learning how that works and where to go next.
Getting Started
Each of the Seven Kingdoms is distinct, with its own climate, economy, materials, and architectural character. Before placing a single block, think about the style of the area you're building in and what makes it different from its neighbors.
Every build on WesterosCraft comes down to three core considerations:
- Canon - What do the books actually say about this place? Architectural details Martin mentions are requirements, not suggestions. The larger the project, the deeper the research it demands.
- Style - Every region has an established architectural language: block palettes, roof types, detailing, and proportions. We build to match recently completed work in the region, not to invent in isolation.
- Worldbuilding - The books leave most locations sparsely described. Builders interpret and expand, thinking through how a place actually functions: its roads, economy, defenses, terrain, and the people who live there.
Beyond these, good building is about deliberate craft: varied block palettes, planned layouts, solid foundations, single-layer facades with real depth, region-appropriate roofs, and interiors where every block serves a purpose. Building Fundamentals covers all of this in detail.
Building is a craft with a learning curve. You don't need to absorb everything at once. When something isn't clear, ask in Discord or in-game or reach out to your Steward.
How Building Works
The path from guest to full Builder is hands-on and mentored at every step:
- Practice on a plot. Anyone can claim a personal plot to experiment with our custom blocks and tools — no application required. See Plot World.
- Apply. When you're ready, you complete a series of build challenges with a Maester. See Apply to Build.
- Apprentice. Once approved, you build on real server projects under a Steward during a probationary period. See Apprenticeship.
- Build. As a full Builder you contribute to projects across the map, and can eventually lead your own.
Throughout, builders give and receive constructive feedback — it's the engine behind the server's quality. Understanding Project Roles helps you know who's who and where to turn.
Where You Build
- Plot World — Your personal sandbox for practice and applications.
- Repository World — The reference library: regional style guides (
/warp northstyle,/warp dornestyle, etc.), universal elements, and block examples to study before and during a build.
Tools
Building at scale relies on a small toolkit. Builder Tools is the overview; the key pieces are:
- FastAsyncWorldEdit (FAWE) — Select regions and modify thousands of blocks at once.
- Axiom — Advanced in-game editing and visualization.
- Web Tools — The website and Discord tools for tracking projects, finding styles, and navigating the map.
